Why Diet’s Aren’t The Answer

It’s been widely reported that obesity is a major risk factor for covid, massively increasing your risk of needing ICU treatment and death should you contract corona.
A study in The Lancet’s online version by the Universities of Toronto and Texas has also shown that countries with above average obesity rates (like the UK where one third of children and two thirds of adults are overweight), were 12% more likely to have higher covid death rates than those without.
Deputy Chef Scientific Adviser Dame Angela McLean said “”My understanding about the way to lose weight is that going on a diet isn’t the way to do it.”
Why would she say that at such a time?!
Well, perhaps because she know the stat that 97% of dieters regain the weight (or more) within 3 years. Yes, diets have a 97% failure rate, yet we’re addicted to that fantasy of a quick fix.
So how do you lose weight and keep it off?
This is what Dame Angela McLean went on to say…
“What you have to do is actually decide to completely change your lifestyle, you have to decide to do something that is going to be enduring, not just going on a diet.”
